European Shito Ryu Karate Federation

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. My Shito-Ryu Karate school is (ex: “Shitokai”), can I participate with my federation/group/ organization at the European Shito Ryu Karate Federation Championships or affiliate at the European Shito-Ryu Karate Federation?

Yes, participating at our events and affiliating at the European Shito-Ryu Karate Federation, does not enter in conflict with any other national or international Karate organization. For example, inside our European Shito-Ryu Karate Federation we have affiliated country representatives that practice Shitokai, Hayashi Ha, Kofukan, etc… and none of them have any kind of problems from their respective chief international branch.

Inside the European Shito-Ryu Karate Federation Championships representatives from countries all around the europe and from all Shito-Ryu Karate schools and branches are welcomed to participate with their athletes (Beppa, Dento, Genbu-Kai, Hayashi-Ha, Inoue-Ha, Itosu-Ryu, Kenshikan, Kenwa-Kai, Kimura Shukokai, Koshi-Kai, Kuniba-Kai/ Motobu-Ha, Kusano-Ha, Mitsuya-Kai, Mushin-Kai, Nobukawa-Ha, Renshikan, Ryushin-Kan, Saito-Ha, Sankukai, Sankukai-Ryu, Sanshin-Kan, Sato-Ha, Seiko-Kai, Seito, Shitokai, Showakan, Shukokai, Seishinkai, Tani-Ha Kofukan, Tomoyori-Ha, etc…).

We promote and organize just competitions, and we do not interfere or impose anything in the Shito-Ryu activity of our representatives or their national organizations. As long as our national representatives follow a certain Shito-Ryu branch or school, we are happy with it.

The reason why we do not organize seminars is due to the fact that a seminar would be based on a certain, specific Shito-Ryu Karate school or branch, that other representatives may not follow and it would be at the same time unfair for them and may cause them problems with their respective chief international branch.

Our objective is to create and develop an international Shito-Ryu Karate community where national representatives from different Shito-Ryu Karate schools and branches are welcomed to meet, participate with their athletes and share ideas.

2. I am affiliated at a certain all-style international or European Karate governing body (E.K.F., W.U.K.F., W.K.C., I.K.U., etc…), can I participate with my federation / group / organization at the European Shito-Ryu Karate Championships or affiliate with my federation / group / organization at the European Shito-Ryu Karate Federation?

Yes, you can participate and if you wish, you can also affiliate. As written above, the participation at the European Shito-Ryu Karate Federation Championships and the affiliation at the European Shito-Ryu Karate Federation do not enter in conflict with any kind of national or international Karate organization

As other European Karate organizations from other Karate styles (E.S.F. – European Shotokan Federation, E.G.K.F. – European Goju Ryu Karate Federation, etc…), we exist in the same manner, and we do not enter in conflict with other international Karate governing bodies.

As long as you follow the Competition Rules for participating and the Statute for affiliation, you can participate and, also affiliate.

3. Why should I participate at the European Shito-Ryu Karate Federation Championships and other competitions organized by the European Shito-Ryu Karate Federation?

Our European Federation and it’s European Championships are a meeting point for verifying the Shito-Ryu Karate competition level of our athletes, for sharing among us our Shito-Ryu Karate resources that we have gathered through many years of practice and last but not least, building strong and lasting friendships among ourselves.

Another advantage is the opportunity to represent your country alongside the other countries’ delegations in a big european Shito-Ryu Karate competition.

Last, but not least, since delegations from all Shito-Ryu Karate schools and branches are welcomed to participate, it is a good opportunity to promote in a competition environment, the Shito-Ryu Karate school or branch that you are practicing in your club/organization.

4. Why should I affiliate at the European Shito-Ryu Karate Federation?

Primary benefits:

– The opportunity to represent your country with your national Shito-Ryu Karate federation, group or individual inside the European Shito-Ryu Karate Federation.

– After you affiliate your federation or group, nobody else from your country (federation or group) can participate at an event organized by the European Shito-Ryu Karate Federation, they can only participate with your acceptance.

– The possibility to be a member of the General Assembly, where you can vote and can make proposals and suggestions regarding the development of the activity of the European Shito-Ryu Karate Federation.

– Participation in the election process for the positions of the various committees or in the Council of the European Shito-Ryu Karate Federation.

– The opportunity to be elected in the positions of the various committees or in the Council of the European Shito-Ryu Karate Federation.

– Cheaper competition taxes for your registered athletes that participate at the events organized by the European Shito-Ryu Karate Federation.

– Having licensed European Shito-Ryu Karate Federation referees and judges from your delegation after they pass the referee training course.

– Optional Dan grade recognition diplomas from the European Shito-Ryu Karate Federation for your already existing Dan grades diplomas in your Shito-Ryu Karate school or federation.

Additional benefits:

– You can gain more support from the parents of your younger students, because you can present them the opportunity for their children to participate and win medals at our European Shito-Ryu Karate Federation Championships. As we already know, the younger generation is not very attracted to sport, but with an additional motivation regarding this event, it would be easier to attract, keep and develop students in your club or organization.

– It will be easier for you to gain (additional) financial support from your local sponsors, not just for the European Shito-Ryu Karate Federation Championships but for the other events where you participate. You can present them the fact that you have the opportunity to represent your country at a European Karate Championship and to promote their brand(s) at a big international event.

– You can ask for (additional) budget from your local or national authorities for your club/ organization, because you can present them the medals that your delegation has won at our European Championship.

– Increased publicity and promotion from your local and national mass-media press (TV, Radio, News Websites, etc…), you can present them that you are participating and representing your country at a European Championship and after, that your national delegation has won a certain number of medals.
